Serial Thieves Run From Cops — And End Up Getting a Free Bath

What started as a high-speed chase turned into one of the most bizarre arrests officers have seen this year.

According to police, two serial thieves wanted for multiple shoplifting incidents across the county were spotted driving a stolen car late Tuesday afternoon. When officers tried to pull them over, the suspects decided to floor it — speeding through backroads, ignoring traffic lights, and nearly hitting another car.

The chase continued for several miles before the suspects lost control of the vehicle near a construction site. Their car skidded off the road, crashed through a fence, and launched straight into a large muddy retention pond!

Witnesses said the suspects scrambled out of the sinking car, completely drenched and covered head to toe in brown sludge, trying desperately to swim to the shore — but it didn’t take long for officers to surround them.

One deputy couldn’t resist joking, “Well, at least they got a free bath before going to jail.”

Police later confirmed that the pair was responsible for a string of thefts at several local stores. Inside the car, officers found stolen goods, counterfeit receipts, and — ironically — a bottle of luxury body wash.

The drenched duo was taken into custody, and both are now facing charges of grand theft, fleeing and eluding, and reckless driving.

As one officer put it, “They thought they could wash away their crimes, but justice always finds a way.”
