Dash Cam Video Released of Red Semi Involved in Deadly 10 Freeway Crash in Ontario

ONTARIO, CA — Authorities have released new dash cam footage showing the moments leading up to a deadly crash on the 10 Freeway involving a red semi-truck earlier this week.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash happened just after 6:00 a.m. near the Vineyard Avenue exit in Ontario. Investigators say the red semi was traveling eastbound when it suddenly swerved across multiple lanes, striking several vehicles before overturning.

The impact caused a chain-reaction collision involving at least five cars and two commercial trucks. One driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and several others were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.

The newly released dash cam footage, taken from a nearby vehicle, shows the semi drifting abruptly before the collision. Investigators are now working to determine whether speed, fatigue, or mechanical failure played a role in the crash.

CHP officials say the footage is being used as part of an ongoing investigation to reconstruct the events leading up to the deadly impact.

The freeway was closed for several hours as crews worked to clear debris and remove the overturned semi. All lanes have since reopened.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional dash cam footage to contact the CHP Inland Division.
