President Donald Trump issued yet another scathing rant aimed at George Clooney and his wife Amal
George Clooney has fired back at President Donald Trump once again, after the Republican reignited their long-standing feud.
Following the 79-year-old’s Truth Social rant on New Year’s Eve (December 31), about the movie star and his wife Amal becoming French citizens, the actor issued a response on New Year’s Day suggesting that 2026 may not be the Trump administration’s year.
After Trump signed off his post with his slogan, ‘Make America Great Again’, his 64-year-old foe used it against him in his short, yet sharp, statement issued to The Hollywood Reporter.
I totally agree with the current president,” Clooney said. “We have to make America great again. We’ll start in November.”
Clooney was referencing the next major political battleground in the US – the midterm elections, which happen halfway through a president’s term and decide who controls Congress.
In November 2026, they could completely reshape Trump’s second presidency. If the Democrats win the House or Senate, they can slam the brakes on his agenda by blocking laws, killing funding, launching investigations, as well as hauling his officials before Congress – which in turn would limit Trump’s ability to rule.

So far, the Republicans have managed to force through a number of their policies, including the ‘One, Big Beautiful Bill Act‘ – the almost 1,000-page budget revamp which will add some $3.4 trillion to the country’s national debt (which currently stands at $36.2 trillion) over the next decade… which more importantly for Trump, delivers tax breaks he promised when he was running for president in 2024.
Put simply, if the Democrats win in November, the Trump administration’s final two years will be gridlocked.
As mentioned earlier, the latest round of sparring between the POTUS and Clooney came after news broke that the actor and his wife, who is an international human rights lawyer, had attained French citizenship.

Speaking to Esquire about the decision, Clooney explained that he didn’t want his two young children, eight-year-old twins Ella and Alexander, to be worried about the paparazzi in America.
“They have a much better life,” he said.
“I was worried about raising our kids in LA, in the culture of Hollywood. I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life. France – they kind of don’t give a s*** about fame. I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.”
