Drunk Driver Nearly Causes Tragedy, Kid Pulled From Wreck Alive

A late-afternoon crash nearly turned fatal yesterday when a woman suspected of driving under the influence collided with another vehicle carrying a family, authorities said.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene around 5:42 p.m. after dispatchers received reports of multiple people trapped in a wrecked car. First responders found a kid and three other passengers inside, shaken and injured but alive.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with paramedics working quickly to free the family while officers attempted to question the driver believed to have caused the accident.

“The kid is breathing,” one responder was heard reporting over the radio, confirming that the infant had survived the violent impact. Police say the woman behind the wheel of the other car showed clear signs of intoxication but appeared oblivious to the gravity of the crash. “She didn’t seem to realize that her actions nearly cost a child’s life,” said one officer.

The woman, whose name has not yet been released pending formal charges, was taken into custody. She faces multiple counts, including driving under the influence and reckless endangerment. The family was transported to Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The infant remains under observation but is expected to recover fully. “This could have been a tragedy,” said [Police Chief/EMS Spokesperson Name]. “We’re grateful everyone survived, but it’s another stark reminder of how dangerous impaired driving is.”

Authorities are urging the public to call 911 if they see suspected impaired drivers and to make alternative plans rather than getting behind the wheel after drinking.
