A harrowing high-speed chase unfolded on an Arkansas interstate late last night as a desperate daughter, convinced she was racing against the clock to save her mother’s life, refused to pull over for a State Police patrol car. The dramatic sequence ended only when the daughter pulled directly up to the Emergency Room entrance.
The incident began at approximately 11:35 p.m. on September 16, according to the police dashcam footage, which showed the pursuit hitting speeds of 85 MPH. A State Police Trooper attempted to pull over the civilian vehicle after observing erratic driving. The driver, later identified as 22-year-old Sarah Jenkins, sped up instead.
Jenkins later explained that her mother, sitting in the passenger seat, was actively having a severe stroke. “I saw the lights, but I looked at my mom, and I knew every second counted,” Jenkins told authorities. “I couldn’t risk the delay of a traffic stop. The hospital was the only stop I was making.”
The patrol car continued the pursuit for several miles, lights flashing and siren blaring, but the daughter maintained speed. The chase concluded dramatically as Jenkins drove straight onto the hospital grounds and stopped directly at the emergency bay entrance.
Upon realizing the nature of the emergency, the pursuing trooper immediately shifted from enforcement to assistance, helping to rush the stricken mother into the hospital where she received immediate medical attention.
“While we understand the incredible stress and fear involved in a medical emergency, running from law enforcement is never the answer,” stated ASP Captain Rex Holden. “It creates extreme danger for everyone on the road. However, the trooper’s quick thinking after the stop ensured the patient got the help she needed.”
Sarah Jenkins was detained at the hospital and faces preliminary charges related to felony fleeing and reckless driving. Authorities confirmed the mother is now in stable but critical condition. The case has sparked a debate over when the demands of a life-threatening crisis may supersede the rules of the road.
