Pregnant Woman in Handcuffs Escapes Police, Drives Off in BMW
A pregnant woman shocked police and onlookers after escaping custody while handcuffed and fleeing the scene in a silver BMW sports car.
The dramatic escape occurred around 9:30 a.m. in a shopping plaza parking lot. Bodycam footage shows Deputy Wolfe attempting to detain the woman before she breaks free, enters the driver’s seat of a BMW Z4, and speeds off — still wearing handcuffs.
The deputy can be seen drawing his weapon, but the suspect accelerates away before he can intervene.
Authorities say no injuries were reported, but the escape posed serious risks to the public and the suspect herself. Sheriff Mike Chitwood called the situation “reckless and extremely dangerous.”
The woman remains unidentified and at large. Police are reviewing surveillance footage and urge anyone with information to contact the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office or leave an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
