What started as a routine traffic stop on a quiet afternoon quickly spiraled into utter chaos when a self-proclaimed “sovereign citizen” refused to comply with police orders — turning an ordinary stop into a full-blown confrontation caught on bodycam.
According to authorities, the incident began when a patrol officer pulled over a silver Dodge Charger for a broken taillight and expired registration tags. What should’ve been a quick citation soon took a bizarre turn.
When the officer asked for license and registration, the driver launched into a long, incoherent speech claiming he was “a free traveler under common law” and that the police had “no jurisdiction” over him.
Bodycam footage shows the man holding up a homemade ID card while refusing to roll down his window more than an inch. He repeatedly demanded to “speak to a superior court judge” and shouted that he did not consent to the stop.
As backup arrived, the driver became increasingly agitated, yelling at officers to “stand down” and threatening legal action if they touched his car. After multiple warnings, officers were forced to break the window and remove him from the vehicle.
He was taken into custody without serious injury, but not before resisting arrest and continuing to argue his “constitutional rights” all the way to the patrol car.
Police later confirmed that the driver was wanted on outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court — the very system he claimed didn’t apply to him.
