Newly-released surveillance footage shows the suspect in the shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk sprinting across the roof of a building on a Utah campus, authorities confirmed Thursday evening.
Investigators say the footage, captured shortly after the attack, depicts a man wearing a distinctive T-shirt and a baseball cap marked with a triangle symbol. Officials are urging the public to come forward with any information that may lead to his arrest.
“We cannot do our job without the public’s help right now,” Gov. Spencer Cox said at a news conference. He noted that investigators have already received more than 7,000 tips and conducted over 200 interviews since the killing.
Law enforcement agencies have ramped up their presence across the region, and the FBI is assisting local authorities in the manhunt. Officials did not disclose whether the suspect has been tied to any extremist groups or if they believe he acted alone.
The killing of Kirk, a polarizing political figure and founder of Turning Point USA, has shaken communities across Utah and beyond. Supporters held vigils on multiple campuses, while opponents voiced concern that the crime could intensify political divisions.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the dedicated tip line. “Every second counts in tracking this suspect down,” Gov. Cox emphasized.
