Authorities in Cape Coral, Florida, say a popular TikTok influencer, Marlena Velez, known for her upbeat lifestyle videos and boasting over 500,000 followers, is now behind bars — and the details surrounding her arrest are both shocking and ironic.
According to police, on the evening of October 12, officers were called to a quiet neighborhood in Lee County after receiving reports of a suspicious vehicle parked near a residential area. When they arrived, they found something unexpected — Velez herself, lying on the floorboard of her car, attempting to hide from officers.
“She was trying to remain unseen,” the department’s report stated. But officers quickly discovered her, confirming that the 28-year-old mother of two was wanted for multiple probation violations and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
This arrest wasn’t Velez’s first encounter with the law. Just a year earlier, on October 30, 2024, she was caught stealing merchandise from a Target store, an incident that went viral after security footage leaked online.
But instead of staying away, authorities say she returned to the same Target only ten days later — this time attempting to steal even more items. That bold decision led to her probation, which she later violated, setting the stage for her most recent arrest.
Neighbors described the scene as surreal. “We saw all these flashing lights and didn’t realize it was her,” one witness said. “She always seemed so put-together online.”
Police confirmed that Velez was transported to the Lee County Jail, where she faces two counts of probation violation and one count of fleeing and eluding.
