A startling close-up video shows a large, hairy tarantula crawling
toward a man’s open mouth as he rests his head against a pillow. His eyes remain closed while the spider’s thick, hairy legs move across his lips and near his teeth.
What makes the scene especially unsettling is how completely still the man appears throughout the encounter. Rather than pulling away, he shows no visible reaction as part of the spider’s body appears to move inside his mouth.
Although tarantulas are often less dangerous to humans than their appearance suggests, they can bite when threatened, and some species have irritating hairs that may cause painful reactions. Having one in direct contact with the mouth creates particular risks because of the sensitivity of the lips and surrounding tissues. The footage shows no clear evidence of a bite or injury, and it remains unknown whether the encounter was deliberately staged. Perhaps the most remarkable detail is the contrast between the spider’s steady movements and the man’s complete lack of visible reaction.
